The Amana sofa was a beautiful product of early wood workers. It was a graceful, flowing sofa that was somewhat comfortable with its horsehair stuffing and upholstered seat. The town harness maker supplied the horsehair. The backs and sides were usually walnut but I have an unusual oak one with a heart shaped back rim. It is very interesting. These are now bought and recovered to provide the same comfort as in the past. This is Empire style furniture.
